Physical Education Rules
1. Students are expected to dress daily for gym class. You are required to wear gym clothes that are different than what is worn during the school day. Youare required to wear athletic shorts dark in color (NO cargo, jean, or
cheerleading shorts, no shorts with zippers)that cover most of the thigh
(4 inches above the knee or no longer than just below the knee, No Sagging),
a cotton short sleeve crew neck t-shirt(no tank top), cotton athletic socks,
and lace up running shoes (cross-trainers or sport specific shoes are
appropriate). Laces MUST BE tied tightly and to teacher specifications. There
should be NO jewelry worn during class activities.
· NOT dressing out for PE will result in a grade deduction.
· Points will be taken off from each day a student does not dress.
Repeated failure to appropriately dress out for gym class could also result in receiving S.T.E.P points for failing to bring class materials and disregards class rules. Students may also be assigned an in-class assignment.
2. Parent notes are acceptable to excuse their daughters' and sons’ from regular
participation in gym class for 2 consecutive days, with modified activities
such as keeping score, helping with equipment, or assisting the teacher.
·This student is still expected to dress out for gym class.
3. Doctor notes are acceptable to excuse students from regular gym class
activities for the amount of days recommended by that doctor. Substitute
class work may be given for extended excuses for class credit.
·This student is still expected to dress out for gym class unless they are
removed from class.
4. Students are expected to follow school policy (rules) written in the
MVMS student handbook. No student will be allowed to enter the locker
room areas after the class has started and attendance taken. This is for
security and safety reasons and for the protection of each student.
5. All students will begin each grading period with a 100% or 100 points.
Grades are based on skills tests, participation, sportsmanship (includes
following class rules and attitude), and dressing out for gym class.
6. Combination locks will NOT be provided by MVM for students. Students will
have access to lockers in the locker rooms during class time and after
school activities ONLY. Students are required to transport class materials
to and from their hall lockers daily. Students may bring and use their own
combination locks during gym class to secure their personal items
recommended). Please DO NOT bring valuables to class.
·Teachers are not responsible for lost or stolen items in the locker rooms
or in the gymnasium.
7. Students should not chew gum or eat candy during class time. No food or
drink allowed in the locker rooms.
8. For safety reasons, students should not bring in glass containers, use
aerosol sprays in the locker room, or wear jewelry during class.
